MAKING A GOOD FUNDING APPLICATION - MONDAY 9TH MARCH

If you are new to writing funding applications, this is a great course

about the skills required, including what funders are really looking

for, the ability to avoid common pitfalls and to remain realistic.

The aims of the workshop are to develop an understanding of how to make

grant applications to local authorities, companies, trusts, etc, more

effective and to provide the opportunity to practise relevant skills.

What information do you need, and how should you structure and present

the most convincing application? To book via Eventbrite, click here. [2]

-------------------------

BASIC CHARITY ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT - MONDAY 23RD MARCH

Few people join a charity or voluntary organisation because they like

finance, but we all have to deal with it. The better it is managed, the

easier you will sleep and the more effective your organisation will

become!

We will cover basic elements of good financial management, including

financial controls and procedures; reserves and budgeting; the rules for

accounts; accounting systems; fund accounting (and dealing with

overheads); financial reports for your committee. This workshop would be

an ideal overview, but also a good refresher course. To book via

Eventbrite, click here. [3]

COSTING FOR CONTRACTS AND FUNDING APPLICATIONS - MONDAY 30TH MARCH

To finance activities, in addition to traditional fundraising

applications, more and more organisations are moving away from grant aid

to commissioned services. To manage this well, it is essential to have

good information about your costs and good systems for setting your

prices.

Aim of the day: to give you tools, techniques and confidence to work out

the costs and prices for your services and/or products. There will be a

little bit of theory, but most of the day will be spent using laptops

(bring one if you can!) to introduce and use Excel-based templates

designed for this purpose. To book via Eventbrite, click here. [4]

To book a place use the link at the bottom of the page for each course, or call Lucia on 0300 3038593.

AND THERE'S MORE!

    * Voluntaryworks is also running a free workshop focused on

organisations working with young people. DEMONSTRATING NEED AND

UNDERSTANDING OUTCOMES (24TH FEBRUARY, 2PM-4PM) will help you learn how

to identify and explain the need for your work and help you to define

the aims, outcomes, targets and milestones of your project. For more

information click here. [5]

    * Would you like a two-hour funding skills workshop? If you have at

least six people who will come to the workshop and a room big enough, we

will bring the workshop to you AND tailor it to the skills your group

needs. For more information contact Jane Owen. [6]
